Restoring a Working Papers backup

You can restore a backup of a Working Papers file stored in the Cloud yourself. You can restore files to a date up to 90 days in the past.

Would you like to recover a single document? If so, please first check whether the method described in the article ‘Recovering documents deleted from Working Papers’ is of any help.

Under ‘Settings’ in the Cloud environment, you will find the ‘Working Papers Backups’ button. Please note: Only administrators can search for and download automatic backups of Working Papers assignments stored on Caseware Cloud. You may not have the necessary permissions, which means the “Working Papers Backups” option is not visible. In that case, please contact a colleague within your organisation who has been designated as a Caseware Cloud administrator. Caseware Support does not have access to your cloud environment and cannot assist you further.

Downloading Working Papers files from the cloud environment (backup)

  1. Select ‘Working Papers Backups’ from the Settings menu in the Cloud environment
  2. In the ‘Search entities’ bar, enter the entity of the client whose backups you wish to view. You can use the filter option to narrow down the results by country and organisation type.
  3. From the list of search results, select the relevant customer entity.
  4. A list of tasks is displayed, showing details such as Name, File name, Year-end, Version, Last edited and Type.
  5. Select the file you want to restore from the backup.
  6. A list of backup files will be displayed, showing the dates they were created and their file sizes. Find the backup file you want and select Download.
  7. The backup will be downloaded to your computer in .tar format. Extract the .tar file to access the Working Papers backup file.

Notes:

  • Backups are stored for up to 90 days prior to the current date, with at least one new backup uploaded every day if changes have been made to the file.
  • You cannot view backups for files that are in the Recycle Bin.
