Working with Tables

How to work with and edit tables on IA Governance

Throughout IA Governance, information is displayed in tables. These tables use an interactive design that makes it easy to search, filter, sort, and group data. By understanding the table features, you can quickly find and organise the information you need.

IAG provides the user with various features when working with content in tables. These include

  • Group the content by columns;
  • Choose which columns to show;
  • Filter columns;
  • Search for values in columns
  • Expand rows
  • Sort content by columns
  • Resize columns

The features are available for pre-defined columns only.

Note that customisations made on the view are not persistent and, on refresh of the page, the table returns to the default view.

1. Key features

Scrolling

Tables use virtual scrolling, which means large amounts of data can be loaded and displayed smoothly without slowing down the page.

Grouping

A group panel is available above the table. You can drag a column header into the panel to group the table by that column.

By default, groups are collapsed, but you can expand them as needed.

To ungroup by a column, drag the column from the group panel to the table.

Filtering

Two filtering options are available:

  • A filter row under headers, where you can type values to filter the data.

  • A header filter in each column, where you can select from available values to narrow down the results.

Search

A search panel appears above the table, allowing you to quickly search across all columns. The search box is large enough to support long search terms.

State storing

Tables remember your settings, such as column order, widths, filters, or grouping. The next time you return to the table, it will open in the same state you left it. A Reset view button is available in the toolbar to restore the default layout.

  • Column chooser

You can hide or show columns using the Column chooser button. This tool allows you to customise the table to display only the information you need.

When clicking the button, a dialog opens with columns you can choose from. Note that some columns may be disabled to hide from the view.
