How do I assign and manage tasks within the IA Governance app so that activities defined in the Internal Audit Manual methodologies are performed and tracked?

The MY WORK | Tasks page provides a central place to view, assign, and manage tasks related to the Internal Audit Manual. Tasks represent the practical execution of methodology requirements and provide evidence that the procedures defined in the manual are being applied. Tasks in this section are derived from task templates defined in DRAFT MANUAL | Tasks, where the templates are created and linked to methodology requirements, while the MY WORK | Tasks page is used to assign those tasks to users and track their completion through Cloud Activities.

Objective

The objective of MY WORK | Tasks is to operationalise the requirements defined in the Internal Audit Manual by assigning tasks to responsible users and tracking their completion. This ensures that governance activities defined in methodologies are executed consistently and that evidence of their completion is maintained within the IA Governance app.

MY WORK | Tasks can be found on the sidebar within the MY WORK module of the IA Governance app.

The Tasks page allows users to view, assign, and manage tasks related to methodologies defined in the Internal Audit Manual. Tasks displayed on this page are generated from task templates defined in DRAFT MANUAL | Tasks and are assigned to users as part of applying methodology requirements. The page is divided into two main areas: the Navigation tree, which provides filtering options, and the Detail view, which displays the tasks based on the selected Navigation tree filter.

 

Note: Only tasks assigned will appear on these pages. If none, the Tasks list will be empty.

Navigation tree

The Navigation tree provides a TreeView structure that allows users to filter the tasks displayed in the Detail view.

Users can choose between the following filter options:

  • All – Displays all tasks.
  • Roles – Filters tasks based on the roles assigned to them in the Internal Audit Manual.
  • Tasks – Lists tasks based on the task templates created in the manual.

Selecting an option in the TreeView updates the tasks displayed in the Detail view.

Note: The All option will display all assigned tasks in the Detail view.

Detail view

The Detail view displays a list of tasks based on the filter selected in the Navigation tree. Each task entry includes information such as the task title, description, status, creator, modification date, and available actions.

Adding a Task

To add a task, click the Add task button above the table.

A dialog will open where the following fields must be completed:

  • Task
    • If All or one of the Roles is selected, choose a task from the list of available task templates.
    • If a task was selected in the TreeView first, this field will already be prefilled.
  • Task description
    Provide a short description of the task.
  • Assignees
    Select one or more active IA Governance users for the entity.

When you click Save, a copy (or multiple copies if there are multiple assignees) of the selected task template from the Internal Audit Manual is created. Each copy is attached to a new Cloud Activity assigned to the assignee. Because a Cloud Activity is created, the assignees automatically receive an email notification informing them that a task has been assigned.

Editing a Task

To edit a task, click the Edit button in the Actions column.

This opens the associated Cloud Activity in a new tab, where the task fields can be completed and the activity can be submitted.

 

Deleting a Task

To delete a task, click the Delete button in the Actions column.

You will be prompted to provide a reason for the deletion before the task is removed.

 

Page outcomes

Using the Tasks page enables the user to assign, manage, and complete governance activities derived from the methodologies in the Internal Audit Manual. By linking tasks to methodology requirements and assigning them to responsible users through Cloud Activities, the system ensures that the procedures defined in the manual are operationalised, tracked, and supported by evidence of completion.
