Document Editor
How to edit an IA Governance document
The Document editor provides a flexible way to prepare, customise, and finalise documents by combining predefined content with your own additions. Each document is made up of text sections, which can be edited, reordered, or removed, as well as page breaks to control formatting for printing.
1. Adding a text section
Between existing sections, hover to display the Add button. Selecting this option allows you to insert a new Text section. A blank section will appear where you’ve clicked, and you can enter your own content using the built-in editor. This is useful for adding organisation-specific requirements or commentary.
2. Adding a page break
Between existing sections, hover to display the Add button. Selecting this option allows you to insert a new Page break. The page break is shown as a dotted line labeled Page break. This helps you control where new pages start when the document is printed to PDF, ensuring the final output looks professional and easy to read.
3. Editing a text section
Click inside any text section to activate the built-in editor.
In addition to formatting text and inserting tables, links, and symbols, the toolbar allows you to add formulas. Use the Add formula button to pull in dynamic data from entity or firm properties.
Edits are applied and saved immediately.
4. Reverting a text section
Predefined sections provided by Caseware can be reverted if you have changed the content and want to restore the original version. This option is available from the Options menu next to the section. Reverting removes your edits and replaces the section with the original predefined text.
5. Deleting a text section
For text sections that you added yourself, you can remove them using the Delete option from the Options menu. Once deleted, the section disappears from the document. Predefined sections cannot be deleted but can instead be excluded.
6. Excluding a text section
Predefined sections can be excluded from your document if they are not relevant to your entity. Excluding hides the section from the document but does not delete it permanently. This option is available from the Options menu.
7. Deleting a page-break
You can remove page breaks by opening the Options menu and selecting Delete.
